The world of a child is filled with amazing and unknown forces that are responsible for good weather, mom's mood, and the size of soap bubbles.
"Queen of Spades, appear!"
"Little devil, play and give it back!"
"Make peace and don't fight anymore!" - in childhood it seems that these words can summon a magical helper, help find lost keys to the house, or make up with a friend. And when words are not enough, rituals come into play: not to step on cracks in the pavement, eat a lucky ticket or make a magic wand out of a funny stick. These words and actions work like spells precisely because children believe in their magical power.
Over the course of two days, we recalled scary stories, played and laughed, discussed what objects we were afraid of, made our own amulets, and acted out plays with them. Participants had the ability to share their fears with each other. It's important for a parent and child to go through this journey together and learn to cope with fears together.
